The setting is a homogenization between our Medieval times in the west. It is a world of infinite shades of gray, but contained within that realm of possibility is light and dark. A monolithic Church holds power in an iron grip; the Noble Houses rule over masses, fighting wars amongst themselves when the see fit; the traveling merchants and craftsmen of the Guilds delve into technologies antithetical to the soul of man, yet try to bring a bit of invention to the world; the vast majority of people know no better than what the shepherding Church elders, their lords, and craftsman tell them. There is a certain darkness on the world, as the sun has faded, growing shadowed perhaps by some sin or another committed in the past. Perhaps it is only an imagined thing, yet the darkness hangs there quiet of its origin… perhaps light will be brought to dispel it.
The local theme surrounding Windapor is one of tired survival. The people here get by, barely. Each winter, beasts, illness, and famine take their toll. The population has reached an eerie static state, neither growing or shrinking through the years.
